At the foot of the mountain, I stand questioning myself
Should I continue to pursue hopes of a life with purpose?
A cold gut feeling draws my body toward the forest like reigns around my being
In the back of my mind, my conscience screams “do not believe what you are seeing”
Remains of travelers scattered along the trail, the signs telling me not to leave the beaten paths
Yurei will skin your mind from the inside, the Jukai loves toying with fearful hearts
I venture beyond the leftovers of the forest’s now prisoners, until the entrance departs-
Ropes from tree to tree, leading to the end of all these frail lives
The screams beneath my feet are all spinning me lies
Dragging me under, into icy caverns where the soul of the forest hides
Anxiety takes over my body
Frozen where I stand; I see the cloaks of mist rolling toward me
I will not become you!
Futile screams as my perception is pried open and rewired
An altered conscience cursed upon me
I’ve lost my fucking mind, I never wished for this
Taunted with trauma, callous spirits torment my vision with repressed energies
Bound with terror, my eyelids ripped from my face
Forcing me to endure the horror of this place
Nothing could have prepared me for this
A body hangs from every branch, as the souls embody the trees
The roots restrain my limbs as the fog crawls down my throat
Convulsing as my spirit is extracted and drained of all satisfaction
Feeling the last piece of me slither out of my infected body
A ghastly figure now standing over my empty vessel
Nothing could have prepared me for this
